Concerned Ghanaians In The USA Demand Apology From Obiri Boahen
28.09.2017 LISTEN

The leadership of Concerned Ghanaians in the United States are extremely disappointed about the ill-fated diction of the Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr.ObiriBoahen against our noble men and women who acted on the advice and vision of the President of the Republic, Nana AddoDankwahAkufo-Addo that we should be Citizens and not spectators.

It is with no doubt that on the 21st day of September 2017, we the Concerned Ghanaians living in U.S.A exercised our constitutional rights by demonstrating at the forecourt of the world governance to register our dissatisfactions about the insecurity and corruption that has engulfed the sanctity of our Country Ghana when the President of the Republic attended the 72nd assembly of the United Nations.

Some of the insecurity and corruption issues include, Akufo-Addo’s trained Invisible Militants and Delta force terrorists who beat up a police officer on duty at the flagstaff house, the dragging out of the Regional Security coordinator from office by the Delta force, the abstraction of justice at Kumasi Court by Delta force, killing and lynching of a soldier; Major Adam Mahama (may his soul rest in peace), Ken Offori Atta’s 2.25 billion Dollars bond, Bost M.D, 5 million liters of contaminated oil saga, turning the seat of government in to corruption hub among other things.

We are also concerned about the issue going on with the Electoral Commission (EC) boss, Mrs. Charlotte Osei of which President Nana Akufo-Addo dragged her to court for a possible removal from office. After carefully studying the circumstances leading to the Presidents’Court action against the EC boss, we are convinced that the whole exercise is witch haunting and it is politically motivated, and it does not augur well for the free pile society that President Nana Akufo-Addo inherited.

We projected our worries on placards and made a few suggestions as well, in a spirit of fairness and in line with constructive criticism.

It appears to us that some of our suggestions did not turn out well with NanaObiriBoahen and because of that a whole NPP Deputy General Secretary who is also a former deputy minister, on Kumasi based radio, called all of us “mad people”. It’s rather unfortunate and a mark offlamboyant exhibition of gross misplace of trust. For a ruling party to have come on air and insulted its Citizens for exercising their constitutional rights is unheard off. NanaObiriBoahen, a Lawyer and a member of the Ghana bar Association should have known better and showcase political maturity and a sense of respect to freedom of speech. A person of his caliber should always focus on purity of our contemporary political discourse. Ghanaians deserve better from the ruling NPP than insult.

We the Concerned Ghanaians in U.S.A demands immediate apology from Nana ObiriBoahen as well as a retraction of his statement against our noble men and women.

We also suggest to Nana ObiriBoahen to heed to the guidance of President Akufo-Addo and be a Citizen and not a party stooge.

Based on the foregoing, we called on the President of the Republic, Nana AddoDnakwahAkufo-Addo to provide his Country and party a leadership that will deter wrong doing, encourage respect and uphold the rights of Ghanaians as embedded in the national constitution.

Thank you.
