All Ghanaians Must Support The Free SHS Through Their Alma Mater

Ghana under the leadership of Nana Akuffo Addo has initiated the Free Senior High School policy. Many, especially his political opponents have raised genuine and mischievous concerns about its sustainability by reason of financing. Many of these schools and their heads have also raised issues of infrastructural problems. Yet, we cannot stop nor truncate this policy because of them.

It is rather a shame for the enemies of this laudable project to say that it is the Free SHS which has caused or raised these problems which have been existential before Nana Akuffo Addo's administration. But equally so, it would be wrong to suppose or imagine that they do not exist. What can we do as "Citizens and NOT spectators" to alleviate or ameliorate these challenges?

We can neither wish it away nor solve it in a day. But consistent persistent conscientious efforts together as a people who have gone through the secondary education system can help in many ways.

Most of the schools have needs we do not need billions of dollars to solve. There are challenges that our little Cedi contribution can tackle without causing more trouble to the GOG.

I am rallying through this article to call on well meaning conscionable Ghanaians to stand up and support their Alma mater. The various old students associations can do better by calling on its members to be patriotic in building Mother Ghana through this Free SHS program. The benefits of this laudable program in spite of the few challenges is enormous! Many school children have benefited and families are smiling. Let us compliment this programme by standing in the gap to provide what else is lacking.

Arise Ghanaians!
