The MTN Foundation has unveiled the trailblazing ‘MTN Heroes of Change’ season 4 to reward the exceptional works of hardworking individuals who are impacting lives in their communities in the area of Education, Health and Economic empowerment.

Nominations for this year’s competition will also include musicians, actors, sports personalities, journalists, radio and TV presenters who run campaigns that benefit their community.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Mrs. AmmaBennehAmponsah said they are adding a special category that will reward two personalities for their contributions to society through their work.

She noted that having seen how some of them go the extra mile to engage people to support life changing projects they believe such personalities deserve special recognition.

“Each winner of these special categories will receive a plaque and a certificate, as well a monetary award that will be invested in a CSI project of their choice. Further details of this special category will be provided in subsequent communications,” Mrs. Amponsah stated.

She indicated that MTN Ghana Foundation will continue to give back to society to brighten lives through its activities as we celebrate our 10th anniversary in November 2017.

The Acting CEO added that In 2016 year they received over 2,000 initial nominations and they look forward to receiving more this year.

Mrs. Amponsah emphasized that the criteria for the main entries remain unchanged adding that they will receive nominations from people who are doing exceptional work in the areas of Education, Health and Economic empowerment.

She stressed that after the collection of entries, they will be shortlisted by an esteemed jury indicating that short listed projects will be further pruned to 100 and thereafter to 40 and finally 10 finalists will be selected for the finals.

According to her, the stories of the top 10 finalists will be filmed and featured in a 13-week television show. After this we will hold a final awards night to announce the winners.

The Acting CEO stated that prize money of GH₵100,000 will be awarded to the Ultimate MTN Hero of Change, to be invested in the winning project.

“This year and in subsequent years MTN Ghana Foundation will assist with the project implementation.Category winners will be awarded GH₵30,000 cedis each, also for investment in their projects, whilst the rest of the six heroes also receive ₵10,000 towards their projects,” she explained.
