Dadekotopon Trust Moves To Stop Land Encroachment

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA - The East Dadekotopon Development Trust (EDDT) has called on the security agencies to intervene in the encroachment of land and harassment by land guards over lands lawfully granted to the Trust.

At a press briefing in Accra, Mr Emmanuel Odoi-Yemo, the Executive Secretary of the EDDT, noted that the said parcels of land were registered in the name of the Trust with Land Title Certificate Number GA 19310 dated October 2, 2003.

He said the activities of the land guards were posing a threat to the peace, stability and rule of law in the country, especially the land under the jurisdiction of the Trust in the La Community.

Mr Odoi-Yemo alleged that some members of the La Traditional Council had engaged in illegal and fraudulent sale of lands under the management of the Trust without proper and genuine documents covering them.

He said a High Court judgement granted by Justice Ofori Atta had its execution stayed by the Appeal Court on March 1, 2011.

Mr Odoi-Yemo explained that the case was settled and the Appeal Court affirmed the settlement in which the Tawiah Tsinaiatse and Ewormienyo Ofoli Kwashie families were granted 15.23 acres of land.

He said the Trust believed that the Tawiah Tsinaiatse and Ofoli Kwashie families were using a judgement, which had been rendered ineffective to defraud unsuspecting members of the public through the sale of the lands under the Trust.

He urged members of the public who intend to deal in any land under the jurisdiction of EDDT to demand the land title certificate of the purported grantor.

The EDDT was established under a Trust Deed on April 10, 2002 pursuant to a consent judgement obtained on July 12, 2001from the High Court, Accra in suit Number L 353 /97 entitled Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III vrs Ato Quarshie and others.

The Trust was dully incorporated with certificate number X0826 on September 11, 2002.
