Kintampo (B/A), Sept. 20, GNA - Mr Michael Sarkodie Baffoe, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for Kintampo North Municipality, has called on teachers to be more committed to duty to justify their appointment.

Mr Baffoe said this when speaking to teachers at Sakafia Basic School in Kintampo as part of his visit to some basic schools in the Municipality to observe the 2017/2018 academic year's 'My First Day at School' programme.

He said teachers were duty-bound to contribute towards national development by nurturing children to be good future leaders, saying that teaching is one of the noblest professions as some renowned world leaders were once teachers.

Mr Baffoe said the Teacher Licensing Policy was relevant as it had the potency of 'weeding' out bad nuts in the teaching fraternity while challenging professionally competent and committed ones to strive to redeem the image of the profession.

The other schools visited by the MCE included the Methodist and the Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High schools.

Mr Baffoe interacted with the pupils and advised them to be respectful and obedient to their teachers.

The MCE then distributed soft drinks and biscuits to 254 pupils that comprised those in Kindergarten One and Primary One.

Officials from the Municipal Education Service Directorate in Kintampo were also sent to 74 other schools in the Municipality to welcome the new entrants.

Earlier Mr Baffoe met 21 caterers who had been contracted to cook for schools benefiting from the 'Ghana School Feeding Programme' in the Kintampo Municipality and advised them to be dedicated for the success of the programme in the Municipality.
