Accra, Sept 20, GNA - Awkward parking of vehicles at Dansoman Last-Stop exposes residents to danger and increase the rate of motor related accidents among children.

Scores of Resident in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday called on the Dansoman Divisional Police Command to immediately roll-out road-side parking mapping, to inject law and order along the principal streets of Dansoman.

A tour of the vicinity by GNA team observed that car owners including private and commercial vehicles usually parked indiscriminately on both edges of the narrow two lane road.

Mrs Gladys Abbey a resident in the community expressed concern about the indiscriminate parking stressing that the situation becomes worse with big trucks also using the already narrow streets.

'The community is filled with lots of school children and this puts them at risk as they use the roads daily,' she added.

Mr Ferdinand Folie-Mensah, a student in the community, described the act as a terrible scene…'the narrow roads are shared by cars on opposite lanes and this has further been reduced by parked cars'.

He called on the Dansoman Police to tow the cars, and charged the owners thereafter.

Mr Eugene Attoh who also expressed frustration, noted that some of the recalcitrant drivers at times parked right in front of residential entrances making it difficult for people to exist or enter their homes.

Mr Adu Quaye, a driver in the community, also told the GNA that the act had been a normal practice for motorists in the community over the years.

The situation is now causing discomfort as the number of vehicles has increased.
