Government has hinted that plans are underway to provide financial support to revive private companies that are collapsing to enable them employ the teeming youth to boast the country's economy.

Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, the Minister for Trade and Industry, revealed this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 4th edition of the Eastern Regional Trade Fair at the Koforidua Jackson Park on Wednesday.

He disclosed that government would create employment for the unemployed youth in various parts of Ghana to stop the migration of the youth to the big cities to search for non-existent jobs.

“It's critical that Ghanaians take the industrial agenda of government very seriously to help improve access to long term financing. My outfit is targeting the establishment of industrial parks in the 10 regions of Ghana and government will provide funds to companies that are facing challenges to expand their business.

The sector minister, who was accompanied by the Regional Minister and his Deputy in the region to tour the entire pavilions at the Exhibition centre, called for support for government for the traditional leaders.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, on his behalf, said the theme for the celebration is line with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's target of promoting made-in-Ghana goods.

Mr. Darfour said that the Secretariat of the One District, One Factory policy, under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, through the region, has so far received over 30 proposals from interested parties who are ready to establish factories in the region.

The Regional Minister, however, urged all prospective business entities to chart the appropriate course and dialogue with the traditional rulers on matters related to land acquisition so that they can built the factories.

The five-day Regional 2017 Trade fair & Exhibition was officially opened on the theme, 'Branding Eastern for Export' with the aim of promoting individual entrepreneurs, and exhibiting their creative artifacts through their products and goods.

The fair, which commences on Wednesday, is expected to end on Sunday, 24th September, 2017.

It would give all the 26 Municipal and District Assemblies in the region, individuals and entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their natural resources.
