The Krachi Nchumuru District of the Volta region is set benefit from a major electricity initiative being spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. John Majisi, with support from the Krachi Nchumuru District Assembly.

As part of preparations towards the extension of electricity from the community to the company site of Green Gold Social Enterprise, a Moringa production company located within the Zongo Machiri area, the MP in collaboration with the District Assembly have presented 15 electric poles at the cost of GHC9,000 in support of the project.

Hon. John Majisi disclosed in an interview that he thought it wise to support the project because the company has over the past years offered poverty alleviation initiatives to farmers and the people of the district through its Moringa farming projects.

On his part, the Managing Director for Green Gold Social Enterprise, Clement Matorwmasen, said the project is a major poverty alleviation intervention.

"We believe this would go a long way to help combat malnutrition since the electricity would enable our company to extend other initiatives to the north and the Volta parts of Ghana by introducing smallholder farmers to Moringa as an additional cash crop. We are going to establish our own plantation processing factory and create fair wage jobs for the youth, people of the community and beyond."

Mr. Matorwmasen disclosed that about 50% of the profit made through the selling, and buying of the moringa seed, leafs and oil will be reinvested in the farming communities in the areas of Health, Education and Economic Development.

He therefore acknowledged the MP and the district assembly for their immense support.
