The National Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at its meeting on Wednesday, unanimously endorsed Hajia Saudatu Saeed, the Deputy National Women's Organiser of the party, as the Acting National Women's Organiser to succeed Afisa Otiko Djaba, who resigned from her position to take up a ministerial appointment.

The acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, announced this at a press conference yesterday at the party’s headquarters.

He said the party is now well positioned to support the government to achieve all its electoral promises made to Ghanaians and improve the standard of living of citizenry.

He said the month of September would be written in the annals of Ghana’s political history as a ‘month of fulfillment and prosperity for the Ghanaian people.’

The acting general secretary pointed out that the month started with the implementation of the paperless technology at the Tema Harbour, which had helped to increase revenue from GH¢130 million recorded in the first week of September, 2016 to GH¢213 million in the first week of September, 2017.

According to him, in the same month, the flagship policy of the party, ‘One District, One Factory,’ was launched at Ekumfi in the Central Region by President Akufo-Addo to create employment for the teeming youth in the area, while the 'Free Senior High School' policy has also been rolled out to benefit over 400,000 students.

Mr John Boadu added that in the same month of September, the Akufo-Addo government would be paying allowances to teacher trainees in the colleges of education..

“The NPP has clearly shown, both in words and in deed, that our unwavering commitment to investing in the future of our country through education cannot be matched.

“The much-talked-about free SHS, which the NPP, particularly, our 2016 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, has been associated with, has come to fruition despite all the bastardization and cynicism from our political opponents. These cynics, particularly Lee Ocran, former Education Minister under NDC, told us that if free SHS was ever possible in Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah would have implemented it,” he said.

Mr John Boadu intimated that the NPP as a party is very content with these developments which are going to change the lives of Ghanaians and commended the government for living up to the legitimate expectations of Ghanaians.

“We want to express our absolute confidence in the ability of President Nana Akufo-Addo to fulfill all the party’s promises made to Ghanaian people,” he noted.
