The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Board, Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi, has been presented with the Humanity Magazine International (HMI) Award for courageous leadership in turning around the fortunes of the institution in a relatively short time.

The recognition of Mr. Okyere Baafi is due to his unrelenting efforts in injecting dynamism in the operations of the Ghana Free Zones Board in order to continually attract foreign investments into the country to create jobs and boost the economy.

During a short ceremony in Accra to present his award to him, the CEO of Humanity Magazine International, Mr. Yahaya Alhassan said “in view of your tireless efforts in bringing to bear your enviable knowledge and rich experience in marketing and insurance to the vast operations of the Ghana Free Zones Board, the Board of Governors of the Humanity Magazine International, has, after careful deliberations, decided to confer on you the Excellence Award for intelligent leadership”.

He praised Mr. Okyere Baafi, who has been at post for barely seven (7) months for introducing creative methods in his leadership style at the GFZB and Mr. Alhassan is optimistic that the country would soon reap the benefits of the valuable seeds sown by the latter.

“Following your short time in the Ghana Free Zones Board seat, you have shown courage in the discharge of your duties, clarity in your objectives to rebrand the Ghana Free Zones Board to restore stakeholder confidence and ensure a hustle-free business environment for the benefit of Mother Ghana”.

Mr. Alhasssan revealed that the Humanity Magazine International aims at promoting quality leadership by recognising the achievements of managers of public and private institutions, to serve as shining examples for other managers and companies or institutions to emulate.

He said HMI also promotes business collaboration between companies in Africa and the counterparts in North America, Europe and the Far East so as to empower the local enterprises to expand and create more jobs for the youth.

Mr. Okyere Baafi in receiving the award expressed his delight for the recognition and he vowed that he and his team of dedicated staff at the Ghana Free Zones Board would not relent in their efforts to attract more investment into the country.

“We are humbled by this recognition and I can tell you that this award has inspired us to do more for our country and we in our small way would make sure that Ghana achieve great things” he said.
