Accra, June 12, GNA- The Assistant Government Spokesperson on Social Services, has called on Ghanaians to be wary of people who hide behind the country's fledgling democracy to create needless tension in pursuit of their selfish and diabolic interest. Mr Kofi Amponsah-Bediako said the country needed peace to embark on meaningful socio-economic development to improve upon the living standards of the people and not meaningless distraction to create "bitter and unpalatable social discourse".

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Amponsah-Bediako urged Ghanaians to critically examine the motives of those who were hiding under the cover of demonstrations to mobilize forces to destroy the achievements under the new democratic era. He said it was only people who still believed in violent disorder and crude dictatorial tendencies that deliberately refuse to acknowledge the new era of change under the Kufuor's Administration as well as "the wind of sweet and pleasant democracy currently blowing across the length and breadth of the country".

Mr Amponsah-Bediako said, " having come this far the country cannot go back to the old ways of doing things and no one should allow wolves in sheep clothing to throw dust into their eyes", Rather people must be widely awake in defence of the country's hard won democracy.
