Techiman North District Assembly Holds General Assembly Meeting

Techiman North District Assembly has held its fourth general assembly meeting of the third session of the fifth assembly at the Maranatha SDA church, tuobodom.

In attendance were the DCE for techiman north Hon. Peter Mensah, Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Martin Oti Gyarko, Presiding Member of the assembly Hon Julius Amegashi, the district coordinating director Hajia Fati Saaka, the district finance officer Mr. John Duut and the various heads of department of the assembly.

In an opening address, the presiding member of the assembly said the purpose of the meeting is to deliberate on matters concerning the assembly and the district as a whole.

In a sessional address, the DCE Hon peter Mensah expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the assembly members for his overwhelming endorsement as the DCE. He also thanked the Brong Ahafo regional minister, member of Parliament for the constituency, regional and constituency executives of the New Patriotic party, all nananom especially Nana Obeng Ameyaw II and Nana Baffour Asare II for their love, support and jointly coming together to grace his confirmation by the assembly members as the DCE.

The DCE said the assembly has not forgotten its core duty to provide physical infrastructure and as a result, he will make sure all projects started by the previous government will not be abandoned since they will benefit the people and also there are a lot of developmental projects that will soon be rolled out across the district.

He also thanked the member of Parliament for the techiman north constituency Hon Martin Oti Gyarko for the construction of 12.5kms virgin road from Tuobodom New Market to Messidan- Asueyi- Akrofrom and called on the assembly to take over and finished it up.

On security, Hon Mensah said security situation in the district is high on his agenda for the district because he believe that the safety of the people should not be compromised. He appealed to the assembly members and nananom to join hands and ensure there is peace in the district.

Hon peter Mensah congratulated the District Director of Agriculture and the staff for their effort to control the fall army worm situation in the district which affected 26 communities. According the DCE, a total of two hundred and seventy five hectares of farm were sprayed out of two hundred and ninety hectares of farms affected by the fall armyworm with government providing the logistics.

He also touched on the planting for food and jobs concept which is government policy to address the challenges of youth unemployment and also to motive the youth into agriculture.

The house delibrated and approved the supplementary budget of the assembly for the year 20017.
