Gomoa Ankamu, June 10, GNA - Work on the construction of the 57-kilometre Ankamu-Yamoransah trunk road has taken off. Residents of Ankamu in the Gomoa District, whose structures had to be demolished to pave the way for the construction, were, however, disturbed and shocked, as they stood helpless to see their property being destroyed by earth moving equipment on Thursday June 2.

According to Mr Justice Essiaw, Assemblyman for the area the exercise took them by surprise because the people were not informed prior to the operation, neither had they been paid any compensation in respect of their property.

Some of the victims who spoke to the GNA said even though the affected areas had been surveyed and estimated they had doubts as to when and how they would be paid to enable them to replace the destroyed structures. They have therefore appealed to the government and Gomoa District Chief Executive to help them get their compensation soon.
