AUG 18, 2017 LISTEN

Accra, Aug. 18, GNA - Dr Nii Amu Darko, a Ghanaian physician based in Australia, has donated electronic beds, mattresses and a wheel-chair to the Osu Maternity Home to support pregnant women who visit the facility.

Presenting the items on behalf of the donor, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, the Osu Mantse, said plans were underway to restructure the Home into a storey building for more space for babies and their mothers.

He commended Dr Darko for the gesture and said the donation served as a payback by the physician who benefitted from the Home where he was delivered.

The Osu Mantse, also the President of the Greater Accra Regional of House of Chiefs, urged the staff of the facility to continue with their hard work to save lives.

Madam Merita Laryea-Essien, the Senior Midwife of the Home, who received the materials, expressed gratitude to the donor and the chief for their assistance.

She called on individuals, corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations to support the Home to enable it to provide excellent services to the people.
