Kpeve/Vakpo, June 1, GNA- Togbega Gbogbolulu V, Paramount Chief of the Vakpo Traditional area, on Wednesday appealed to government to revive the defunct World Bank assisted animal husbandry project at Vakpo in the Kpando District.

The paramount chief made the appeal when the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi inspected the abandoned project, as part of his tour of projects in the Kpando and newly created South-Dayi districts.

The project with six bungalows and several offices had been left in the bush for sometime now and no reasons were given for its abandonment. Togbega Gbogbolulu expressed the hope that the revival of the project would bring immense benefits including veterinary services to the people of the area.

Mr Dzamesi also inspected work on 2.6 billion cedis offices complex for the new South-Dayi District at Kpeve Newtown including the sites for the construction of the District Chief Executive's residence, District Police Headquarters and a new market.

He urged the traditional authorities to assist the Assembly to acquire more land in addition to the 100 hectares they had already put at the disposal of the Assembly for infrastructure development. Mr Dzamesi gave the assurance that the government would be guided by equity and fairness in executing development projects throughout the country.

Mr Theodore Apedo, the District Co-ordinating Director, said the Assembly had so far received 3.5 billion cedis as its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund.
