A news report by a local FM station Happy FM has caused a stir at the Nungua Traditional Council which has called for an immediate retraction and apology by the said lady presenter and the arrest of one Wor-Nii Bortelabi Borketey Laweh XIV for defamatory comments made against the paramount chief on 17th July, 2017.

The Nungua Traditional Council said it was irresponsible for the station to air such falsehood peddled against the Paramount Chief.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the Paramount Chief of the Nungua King Odaifio Welentsi III described the story by the station as a calculated attempt to harass, embarrass and tarnish his image as the true overload of Nungua.

The about 80-year old Wor-Nii Bortelabi Borketey Laweh XIV is said to have on several occasions challenged the legitimacy of Odaifio Welentsi III at the law court.

“I am the legitimate and duly registered chief of Nungua and not Wor-Nii Bortelabi Borketey Laweh XIV who is an imposter for not claiming Gborbu Wulomo but Nungua Mantse,” the Paramount Chief intimated.

King Odaifio Welentsi, who doubles as the President of the Nungua Traditional Council indicated that the judgment of the Supreme Court which the presenter referred to in the radio broadcast was delivered on the 17th February, 2010.

He noted that Supreme Court did not declare Wor-Nii Bortelabi Borketey Laweh as the Chief of Nungua and therefore must be called to order by the Ghana Police for seeking to undermine the peace of Nungua land.
