Asuboa (Ash), July 21, GNA - The Business Advisory Center (BAC) in the Asante-Akim South District, has stepped up the effort at growing businesses through best management practices.

It has been training small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in financial management, book keeping, products packaging and marketing skills.

One of such training workshops has been held for oil-palm producers at Asuboa.

This was done under the rural enterprises project (REP).

Ms. Amina Lambert, the Head of the BAC, said it was determined to go the extra mile to assist businesses in the area to thrive.

She indicated that their growth and expansion would without doubt create jobs for the people and transform their economic situation.

That was the path to travel to fight poverty and joblessness, she added.

She called for entrepreneurs to avoid frivolous spending and to make sure that they ploughed back profit interest into their businesses.

Ms. Lambert blamed the collapse of many SMEs on poor management and asked that best practices were maintained at all times.

She encouraged them to also put premium on products packaging - to make the products attractive to consumers.

She used the occasion to urge businesses to take advantage of the programmes and technical support of the BAC to grow.
