Saboba (NR) July 21, GNA - World Vision Ghana (WVG) has donated large quantity of drugs to the Saboba and Zabzugu districts under its Gift in Kind (GIK) project to improve quality health service delivery.

The drugs worth US$ 28,124.5, included various quantities of Vitamin 'A' supplements, Albendazole, Anti-malaria drugs and other pharmaceuticals.

The WVG in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) made the donation in Saboba on Thursday.

Mr Micah A. Olad, the Health, Nutrition and HIV and AIDS Specialist of WVG who presented the drugs said the medical supplies were to contribute to improve the health and nutritional status of children in the two districts.

He asked GHS to collaborate with the two District Education Units to embark on mass de-worming exercise and vitamin supplementation campaign to help reduce worm infection and improve their well-being for better performance in school.

Mr Olad, however, appealed to government to grant the WVG and its donors tax exemption on items donated to supplement the government's efforts to providing quality health care in the country.

He said this would help motivate their partners and donors overseas to commit more resources in bringing such related items into the country.

He also called on the district health directors to ensure that the drugs were used judiciously and for its intended purpose.

Mr Bumawura Ewuntomah Mahama, the Zabzugu District Director of Health who received the items expressed gratitude to the numerous support the WVG had been giving to the districts and assured the drugs would be used efficiently to supplement government's effort.

He, however, appealed to WVG to support them with bore-holes since most of the health facilities lacked potable water to run its systems.
