Nkoranza (B/A) July 20, GNA - The assembly members have been called to assist their assemblies in their Internally Generated Fund (IGF) mobilisation effort for enough revenue to undertake development projects.

Madam Dinah Attaa-Kusiwaa, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), made the appeal when she addressed the first ordinary meeting of the third session of the Assembly on Wednesday at Nkoranza.

She said the District Assembly Common Fund alone was not adequate for the Assembly to finance developmental projects besides meeting its operational costs and recurrent expenditure.

Madam Attaa-Kusiwaa appealed to the members to encourage the populace to honour their tax obligations for the Assembly to generate enough revenue to supplement funds from the external sources for more socio-economic infrastructural development projects in the communities.

The MCE also urged the revenue collectors of the Assembly to intensify their efforts and desist from all corrupt practices that would reduce the IGF targets and warned that management would not hesitate to ensure the arrest and prosecution of any collector who would be caught in fraudulent deals.

Madam Attaa-Kusiwaa announced more than 142 people in the Municipality have been enrolled on the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme and that the Assembly has submitted additional names for consideration by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Mr Kwame Adu-Gyamfi, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, urged members to make meaningful contributions in all deliberations at the sub-committee meetings.
