The Bogus Petition By Faceless Petitioners

Charlotte Osei, EC BossCharlotte Osei, EC Boss
20.07.2017 LISTEN

I am highly challenged when it comes to matters concerning legal technicalities but there are some issues one can conveniently his/her common sense when discussing them.A petition is a written application from a person or persons to some governing body or public official asking that some authority be exercised to grant relief, favors, or privileges.A petition may follow different forms but must coherently capture details of the matter in question.

The constitution of the Republic grants us the right to petition in matters such as removal of superior court justices, Chraj commissioners,Presidential elections etc.and are supported by specified articles in the constitution.A formal application must be made in writing that requests action on the matter in question. I listened to the lawyer for the faceless petitioners on some radio stations yesterday and felt sad for Ghana and the profession I respect so much. The lawyer ended his media shuttles exposing his intrinsic and extrinsic motives and exposed his professional incompetence.

He attacked the host of a radio show of Citi FM Umoru Sanda of sounding too political only for the host to point to him the political stint in his petition. In the petition, he accused the EC boss of taking partisan stance during the 2016 election an alleged action he claim in the petition undermined the electoral process, and had the potential of plunging the country into serious crisis. His subsequent statements exposed his intended motives and hollowness in the petition. It is the EC boss's inalienable right to know the persons who have raised those scandalous allegations against her. The lawyer ( Mr Agyemang) cannot put the EC boss through mental torture by throwing out such serious allegations and refuse to point out those he claimed hired him to work on their behalf.

The first task of effective petition writing is to properly identify your target in this case, Madam Charlotte Osei , the person being petitioned against must also know who has (have) targeted him/her. I think the presidency what the President's secretary did was right, the presidency must always endeavour to protect the sanctity and status of the office.

The secretary ought to have known that a petition should must follow a well researched reasons for making the reasons and must provide a description of relevant circumstances and links to documentation or fact that support the description therein. Is the request feasible? Did the EC boss engage herself in any nefarious activity during the election? I am very particular about that portion of the petition because listening to the lawyer, I detected pure political mischief and using the other frivolous allegations as instrumentalities to get at the innocent EC boss. If the petition I have read from the media is the one presented to the President, then I will respectfully appeal to all who love the President to advise him throw away this useless petition.

The content and structure insult the intelligence of the President because, the core petition text and the preamble do not match and the templates confusing. How do present such a serious petition to the number one gentleman of the land without putting out names of those he claimed hired him.His submissions show clearly that he is the architect of the bogus document he disrespectfully presented to the President and hiding behind legal technicalities to pursue his agenda.

The President must throw out the petition. He must weigh the potential dangers, the fragility of our democracy, the polarized nature of our nation and politics and emerging tensions. The woman must be commended than what we seeing. I don't think we must turn the office of the EC boss into a political basket. I am personally going to petition the General Legal Council, the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, Ghana Bar Association and the President himself (on) about the conduct of the lawyer (Mr Agyemang).

Ghana commands huge international respect and recognition when it comes to the legal profession and practice we've distinguished ourselves globally hence the need to curb such dangerous tricks by tricksters in the legal business
