Hon. Tina Mensah Commends President Akufo-Addo For An Excellent Performance In 6 Months

The extremely persistent and untiring Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency and also Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah, has commended His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 5th President of the 4th Republic of Ghana for the prudent, efficient and excellent economic gains achieved by the NPP government within 6 months of power. "I am a proud NPP” she stated without mincing words.

The law maker, who was made Deputy Minister of Health, some months ago by His Excellency was full of praise for him and the NPP government as a whole.

According to her, the NPP government inherited what she termed economic liabilities which were running the country backwards until the NPP won massively in the 2016 December 7th polls to take charge of the economy and the entire country.

She disclosed that the NPP government which she is playing a pivotal role at the health ministry had some economic challenges coupled with corruption in public life, and abuse of power, among others.

This, she said, were set backs until H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration took over the mantle of leadership.

“The good fiscal policy and economic discipline marshaled by my party is the source of the sound economic stability in all aspects of the economy we are witnessing today”. She said. The macroeconomic indices are there for all to see and judge for themselves she stated.

The illustrious MP who doubles as Deputy Minister of Health Minister was optimistic that her government will soon turn the fortunes of this country round for the betterment of all to enjoy. “Ghanaians will in no time enjoy the fruit of the sound economic policies initiated by the Economic Management team, chaired by H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic “she remarked.

She recounted, the recent decline of inflation which stood at 12.1% as at June this year, compared to the 15.4% inflation rate in December, 2016 when the NPP took over the mantle of leadership as success chalked by her party.

"This is a clear manifestation that the NPP government has firm grip of the economy", she stated. She was full of praise for government’s intervention to cut down the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) of Bank of Ghana from 25.5% to 22.5% to encourage more inter bank borrowing to make credit facilities available at a cheaper borrowing rate to grow private businesses. She hinted that growing businesses in the ultimate concern of her government.

She could not hide her joy to make references to some good things stated in the 2017 budget presented on the floor of Parliament in March, this year by the Finance Minster, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta. The budget which is dubbed “Asempa Budget” among other things hinted the restoration of the nurses and teachers trainee allowance abolished by the erstwhile NDC administration.

She said, the President of the Republic of Ghana on Tuesday July 18, 2017 during the first ever meet the media encounter hinted that nurses and teachers will enjoy their allowances at the onset of the academic year. The restoration of the nursing trainee allowance is a great news to her.

She further stated that, the abolishing of some obnoxious taxes implemented by the previous administration will shift attention from taxation to production to expand businesses and create jobs in the country. The NPP wishes to establish a business friendly environment to enable investors and the private sector to strive.
