Sunyani May 26, GNA - A Sunyani High Court, presided over by Mr. Justice L.L. Mensah on Thursday again refused bail for Police Lance Corporal Ben Azagisnaba who allegedly shot and killed Mr. John Tereku, a mechanical engineer, at the Sunyani Catering Rest House.

The court ordered that he remained in prison custody till June 9 this year, when he made his third appearance before the court. The accused's counsel pleaded with the court for bail but was refused on the grounds that investigations into the case were still going on.

His plea was not taken, as no charge has been preferred against him.

Mr. William Pobee, Principal State Attorney in charge of Brong Ahafo Region told the court that a post mortem of the deceased had been performed at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi as ordered at the last sitting and the body had been sent back to the Regional Hospital Mortuary in Sunyani.

Azagisnaba, a member of a police team, on April 25, this year allegedly shot and killed the late Tereku in his room at the Rest House following a tip-off that he was a suspected armed robber. The informant had alerted the Regional Police Command that Tereku was an armed robber who had planned to strike in the Sunyani municipality.

Azagisnaba was arrested and placed in police custody whilst the body of the deceased was deposited at the Regional hospital in Sunyani.
