Koforidua, May 25, GNA - The Accra Airport Rotary Club has donated medical equipment worth three million cedis and an undisclosed cash to the Matthew Chapter 25 Centre in Koforidua which caters for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs).

The equipment included stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors and weighing scales.

Making the donation, the Vocational Director of the Club, Mr Kofi Adu Mensah, said the gesture was in support of the commendable effort of the Centre to provide care and hope for the PLWHAs.

He assured the Centre of the continued support of the Club to fulfil its mission and advised the inmates to concentrate on their income-generating activities to raise income for themselves and their families.

Receiving the donation, the Centre Director, Rev. Father Alex Bobby Benson, thanked the Club for coming to the aid of the Centre the second time in a year and appealed for a thermometer to help facilitate the health checks on the inmates who number about 40.

In another development, a ten-member delegation of PLWHAs from the Krobo HIV/AIDS Relief Organisation (KHARO) Home at Agormanya-Krobo visited the Centre to acquaint themselves with the care and support being given to their counterparts.

Mr Simon Tetteh Ablor, a facilitator of the KHARO Home, who led the delegation said the visit was to enable them to study and share experiences in the care and support of PLWHAs at the Centre, saying, the Home had 63 inmates.
