Ekumfi Essarkyir (C/R), May 24, GNA - The Chairman of the Board of Governors of Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School, Prof. Kwesi Andam, has appealed to the Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust fund (GETFund) to provide the school with a bus to facilitate movement of students.
The Fund should also provide accommodation for tutors and students. Prof. Andam, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), made the appeal at a board meeting at the school.
He said the board had initiated short and long-term strategic plans for expansion, in order to increase the school's student intake from the current 400 to at least 1,000. He said the school was the only SSS in the Ekumfi Traditional Area and that it needed additional classrooms and dormitories to enable it to admit more students.
Prof. Andam appealed to the Mfantseman District Assembly to complete a Home Science block, which had been abandoned about five years ago for the school and also provide it with a good sports field. The chairman appealed to parents to support the teachers to maintain high level of discipline.
