Nkoranza (B/A), May 23, GNA - The Police have mounted a man hunt for Isaac Baffoe, a 16-year-old former student of Yefri Junior Secondary School at Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo Region, for allegedly threatening to kill a teacher of the school.

The Headmaster of the school Mr Isaac Fosu-Baffoe told the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that Baffoe who was a Section Prefect and among the students who wrote this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination, did not take kindly to a decision by the school authorities to punish him for failing to supervise his subordinates assigned to work on a plot of land.

He said when a teacher at the school, Mr Collins Kwarteng took a cane to lash Isaac; he snatched it and used it to assault him and another teacher who attempted to retrieve the cane. The Headmaster said Isaac later organised a gang including two of his classmates identified as Osei and Antwi to Mr Kwarteng's residence and pelted the house with stones.

The suspect was said to have also armed himself with a cutlass and a club to the school's Staff Common Room with the intention of harming Mr Kwarteng.

The teacher had to jump through the window to save his life and reported the incident to the Police. Isaac is however on the run.

Meanwhile District Director of Education Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu has instituted investigations into the matter.
