Prampram(GAR), June 27, GNA - Muslims in the Ningo-Prampram District on Monday gathered at the Prampram Anglican School Park to mark the celebration of this year's Eid-Ul-Fitr.

The celebrants resplendent in white lace apparels and kaftans, thanked Allah for granting them the strength to successfully observe the one month long religious fasting.

Mr Jonathan Nii Doku, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, who joined the Muslims in the prayers, commended them for undertaking their religious obligation and called on them to always cherish peace.

Mr Doku gave the assurance that he would use part of the Assembly's first Common Fund to fulfil a request from the Muslim community to help construct an Islamic school in the District.

He also promised to reserve at least three slots under the District's Junior High School Scholarship Scheme, for needy but brilliant Muslim children to also acquire basic education.

He further promised that the Assembly would facilitate the involvement of Muslims in the area to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, therefore calling the Chief Imam to constantly pray for him and the staff.

The DCE also gave the assurance that he would initiate the resolution of a misunderstanding between the Muslim community and Christians over the cemetery in the community.

Imam Ibrahim Tetteh Djan, lmam of the Muslim community in Prampram, asked Muslims to live a good life just as they did during the Ramadan.

Iman Djan asked the Muslims to celebrate the Eid in peace as they were known for giving the assurance that he would continue to teach and preach on peaceful living.

He and Muslim leaders thanked and presented a gift to the DCE for joining in Eid prayers.
