Accra June 25, GNA - About 100 members of the Unity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Ogbojo in Accra have benefited from a free health screening organised by the Dentoc Project and Freedom Aid Ghana.

The project formed part of the activities of the Church to mark its 25th Anniversary Celebration.

The exercise organised by the two Non-Governmental Organisations was aimed at determining the oral and medical health status of the congregation and to advise them on how to live healthy lives.

The organisations tested the church members on Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index and Dental screening.

Mr Bright Adoboe, the Executive Director of Freedom Aid Ghana said about 30 per cent of the beneficiaries recorded high blood pressure whilst 35 per cent were overweight.

He advised the public to regularly go in for check-ups as well and engage in physical exercises in order to stay healthy.

Mr Robert T. Patterson, a Dental Hygienist of Dentoc Dental Clinic called for the use of good dental products, regular check-ups as well as regular change of brushes to ensure healthy gums and teeth.

Mr Michael Okaiquaye, an Elder of the Church appealed to all members of the church to see the Anniversary as a wake-up call to reunite and serve the Lord.

He said they owed it a duty to live long to proclaim God's word and fulfil His assignment on earth and admonished them to check their health status periodically.

The Silver Jubilee Anniversary on the theme: 'Celebrating The Lord's Goodness: Let The Earth Hear,' has a year-long programme of activities being undertaken and would be climaxed with a thanksgiving service on April 22, 2018.
