Rt, Rev. Zormelo on Peace

Winneba(C/R), May 22, GNA - The Senior Bishop's Deputy of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Right Reverend Dr Godfred Zormelo, at the weekend called on Ghanaians to continue to offer intensive prayers for lasting peace and progress of the nation.

Making the appeal at special prayer meeting at Winneba, Rt. Rev. Dr Zormelo also asked Ghanaians to extend similar prayers for "our brothers and sisters in neighbouring Togo to ensure peace and stability in that country."

To achieve these objectives, Rt. Rev. Dr Zormelo emphasized the need for Ghanaians, irrespective of political, ethnic and religious affiliations must endeavour to cultivate decent moral qualities to propel national development at all levels.

Rt. Rev. Zormelo said, "peace and stability in Togo would serve those of us in Ghana enormous amount of relief due to the chain of brotherly relations that link the country and her immediate neighbours."

He told the congregation that the only reliable and most effective weapon that one can conveniently use to avert distressful social, economic, and spiritual was prayers.

"Such prayers must be necessarily supported by clean and open mind and above all, a clean and untainted heart", the Senior Bishop's Deputy added.

He asked Ghanaians to realize the importance of oneness and strive always to maintain the spirit of unity, love and mutual co-operation for the acceleration of national cohesion and progress.

Rt. Rev. Dr Zormelo repeated his call on the media to be extra mindful in their presentations in both print and electronic media with the view to reconciling the people for greater achievements for present and future generations.

Prayers were said for national and global peace at the meeting, attended by representatives of the Church from various parts of the Winneba circuit of the Church. May 22 05
