JUN 21, 2017 LISTEN

Gomoa Mumford (C/R), June 21, GNA - The Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) has donated more than 380 assorted reading and text books to the Gomoa Mumford Community Library and Learning Centre.

The gesture formed part of the leading telecommunication service provider's 10th edition of 21 days Y'ello Care Programme aimed at giving back to the society.

The books donated included various subject reading books, novels, dictionaries, among others and would offer the children a variety of areas to read to develop their reading skills.

As part of activities marking this year's 'Yellow Care' celebration, Management of MTN also undertook some painting exercise at the Mumford Library to give it a face lift.

Mr. Simon Amoh, Western and Central Manager, said the MTN Foundation had for the past ten years supported the education, health and economic empowerment of many Ghanaians as means of giving back to the communities in which the company operated.

'MTN believes that if children develop the habit of reading at the early stages of their education, they will grow to become brilliant and smart students into responsible adults'.

He appealed to parents and guidance to encourage their children to visit the library regularly to read to improve upon their reading abilities.

Mr Amoh also advised the school children to desist from watching television soap operas and telenovelas which did not contribute to their academic performances.
