Members Of The Executive Committee Of The All-Africa Students Union AASU On The Fractured 12th Congress Held In Khartoum, Sudan
21.06.2017 LISTEN

We the undernamed Members of the Executive Committee of the All- Africa Students Union (AASU) have acknowledged a leadership gap created by a Fractured Congress held in Khartoum, Sudan and have resolved to communicate to the general public the following:

1. That there was a Fractured Congress held in Khartoum, Sudan in December, 2016 which witnessed constitutional breaches and procedural errors.

2. That the Secretary General (Mr. Awaah Fred) unilaterally handed over power to Mr. Peter Kwasi Kodjie as the new Secretary General in the midst of contention, reservation and apprehension with the Fractured Congress from the Executive Committee of AASU and most member National Students Unions.

3. That the Executive Committee and most National Students Unions formally petitioned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana to investigate the Fractured Congress. The investigation begun on January 9th, 2017 with a meeting of the ministry and the feuding parties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Ghana ( [email protected] ). The committee was made up of Directors from Legal, Africa and Finance Bureaus of the Ministry upon the directives of the sector Minister.

4. That while the executive committee respectfully awaits the reports of the committee, Mr. Peter Kwasi Kodjie has flouted the directive of the Ministry and continues to hold himself as Secretary General of AASU in the absence of the outcome of the investigative report.

5. That Government agencies, Diplomatic Corps, National organizations, International Organizations and the general public be cautioned NOT TO DO BUSINESS with Mr. Kodjie as AASU Secretary General of AASU. Any institution or individual doing so is at their own risks.

6. That the Executive Committee remains committed to the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and hope the outcome is communicated expeditiously to allow the Union carries out its mandate.
