Sunyani Krontihene To Host Programme On Space FM

The Krontihene of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Oboaman Bofotia Boamposem II, is set to hit the airwaves as host of ‘Sankofa’,a culture, traditions and heritage programme on award winning radio station, Space FM in Sunyani.

The one hour talk show seeks to rekindle reverence for the rich Ghanaian culture, especially in the youth, as a launch pad for accelerated social cohesion and development.

For the past few months, the team at Space FM has taken the chief through the rudiments of radio broadcasting with special emphasis on broadcast operations, presentation and interviewing skills, production, post production, and research skills.

Having satisfied all the requirements for Space FM programme staff, the Programmes Director of the station, Dickson Smith, has given clearance for the commencement of the program on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:50pm.

The programme, even though not the first of its kind on radio, is unique in the region because for the first time, a Chief would be in the driving seat as the host and not the guest.

Speaking to the team at Space FM after his orientation, Bofotia Boamposem expressed appreciation for the time and energy spent on him to ensure that he is well equipped and ready to present to the best of his abilities and in conformity to the programmes philosophy of the station. He pledged to put to good use all the basic broadcast presentation skills he has acquired to meet the demands of the huge listeners of Space FM.

A cross section of people in the region have also given their blessings to the upcoming programme ‘Sankofa’ appealed to management of the station to sustain it.They believe radio stations should be using their platforms to educate the public on soceital cohesion by upholding our culture.

“Such a programme is very important and especially with the Krontihene hosting it, one can only expect the best of cultural education for our youth who are wrongly copying foreign cultures”, a business woman said in Sunyani.
