May 21, JoyOnline -- The People's National Convention, PNC plans to take on President Kufuor on his fight against corruption.

The party says it is appalled at certain comments by the President regarding his fight against corruption.

President Kufuor on Wednesday reiterated his earlier position that anti-corruption agencies will only take action if media allegations of corruption against some members of his government are substantiated.

But the PNC says such comments particularly coming from the president of the country is unfortunate.

According to a National Vice Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, allegations are often substantiated through investigations.

He told Joy News that the party is preparing an appropriate response to the President's position on fighting corruption.

“ What happened at the Energy Commission was based on some allegations that was in the newspapers and the people acted on it by setting up a committee to investigate it. So everything begins as an allegation and through the processes of investigations, the factual or non-factual information is established,” he says.

“ But when it is said that the issue ought to be substantiated doesn't make sense, who does the substantiation? But like I said, we will issue a press statement next week to express the position of the PNC as regards the utterances of the president and the position of either issues that have been raised,” he says.
