By GNA

Twifo Kyirenkum (C/R), May 20, GNA - Thirty people have been rendered homeless in three communities in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower Denkyira district when a rainstorm ripped off the roofs off their houses on Tuesday.

The communities are Kyirenkum, Kotokye and Mintasu. Mr Prince Arhin, the district co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that a total of 14 buildings and other properties with an estimated value of 200 million cedis were destroyed.

Mr Arhin said during the incident, a 35-year-old widow, Madam Beatrice Adoma, collapsed and was receiving treatment at the local hospital.

He advised the people to plant trees in their surroundings to serve as windbreaks. 20 May 05
