Accra, June 13, GNA - The curfew on Bunkprugu Township has been renewed from 2000 hours to 0600 hours effective Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

A statement issued by Mr Ambrose Dery, the Minister of the Interior, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said the renewal of the curfew was on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument.

It admonished chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace to the area.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Bunkprugu Township and surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons.

The statement said any person found with arms or ammunition 'will be arrested and prosecuted.'
