We live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups. Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms (Philip K. Dick).

I write as an apolitical and independent of any political party to take a look into politics in Ghana. The political climate in Ghana has become hazy in recent times as democracy tapers of. It is difficult for a politicised mind to accept the truth than for a notorious armed robber to accept change. No wonder people go to TV stations and talk for hours but not a scintilla of truth can be found in their argument. Mischievous allegations has become the order of the day. It's time we wake up and smell the coffee.

Political opponents resort to badgering and hazy argument just to cripple the current administration. We care less about our choice of words even if it hurts others. We talk on issues that we have no idea about. What baffles me the most is when i read comments from intellectuals on ghanaweb, facebook, twitter, and suchlike devoid of substance and deviation from the topic under discussion. People sit at their homes and pass disparaging comments about the president, the same comment they wouldn't pass against their father. I am not trying to be squeamish but i believe constructive criticism is the best way.

"Skillful speech not only means that we pay attention to the words we speak and to their tone but also requires that our words reflect compassion and concern for others and that they help and heal, rather than wound and destroy." (Bhante Henepola Gunaratana).

Problems facing communities never get solved because the politics of the issue got in the way. Like a football, you decide how to handle the ball when it gets to your hand. There are a lot of kleptomaniacs and corrupt minded people who appear as angels to the people in an attempt to win power and later become a thorn in their flesh. Because is hard to take vainglorious promises and lies from politics, I call them political masqueraders.

The beating drums of politics echoes but it dances become silent among them. The people who come to your doorstep to canvass for your votes during electioneering period are not the same people you will see after election.

The democracy we are experiencing today is just a camouflage, trying to say things which really have no basis and basically engulfed in ignorance. Few individual rooms have turned into micro finance banks whilst majority of its citizens languish on the street and left to their fate. Is that what we call the wishes of the people are taken into account? We always think tolerance is tolerant to those who only share our views and ignore those who do not belong to our party.

The world we are experiencing today is the result of our collective consciousness, and if we want a new world, each of us must start taking responsibility for helping create it (Rosemary Fillmore).

We always have a choice, a choice of attitude. We cannot change the past, but we can make a difference today. If we want Ghana to change, each of us must start taking responsibility for our actions and inactions. There are so many politards in politics that impedes progress. The needless politicization of every strand of issue at the expense of strategic prioritization of national development is unhealthy in a contemporary society. Let us all come on board and create a better Ghana, let us not be consumed by politics, before that the production and use of common sense . We can only reach the pinnacle of development if our leaders eschew selfishness and greed and imbibe the spirit of empathy and integrity. The sense of being a Ghanaian, taking pride in our country, and above all, working together for the betterment of Ghana must be uphold. Let's put a stop to the political twaddles. If we want a more loving, accepting and sound society, then we need to be more loving, accepting and sound. Ghana will only change as changes in individual levels of consciousness occur.

True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity - or political ideology(Monica Crowley).

You a politician in a masquerade, who goes to TV and radio stations to throw dust in the eyes of the people using sophisticated econometric models just for your political gains...remove the mask of deception. You a politician in a masquerade who promises a bridge even if there is no river....remove the mask of unfulfilling promises. You a politician in a masquerade, who only comes to the people when you know election is imminent....remove the mask of hide and seek. You a politician in a masquerade who sees nothing wrong with your choice of words even if it hurts your fellow human being. You a politician in a masquerade who votes because he/she champion your race, religion etc without questioning his/her character....remove the mask of tribalism.

You a politician in a masquerade who only think of luxurious foods without caring for the poor vagrant on the street, you are integral part of the problem. You a politician in a masquerade who misrepresent your people, posterity will judge you, and you will definitely reap what you sow.

THANK YOU.
