Chiefs hold talks with Rawlings

on "matters of grave national concern" Accra, May 17, GNA - A delegation from the National House of Chiefs on Tuesday held a two-hour closed-door meeting with Former President Jerry John Rawlings to discuss issues of grave national concern.

"Matters of grave national concern were discussed and the meeting lasted for two hours," according to a statement signed by Captain Victor Smith, Director of Public Affairs of the Office of the Former President. The statement said the President of the National House of Chiefs, Odeneho Gyapong Ababio II, led the delegation and it included all the Presidents of the 10 Regional Houses of Chiefs.

It said it was at the instance of the National House of Chiefs. Strained relations between former President Rawlings and President John Agyekum Kufuor have been a grave concern to Ghanaians and there have been calls on influential groups and persons to bring the two of them together.
