Somes Chiefs in the Assin South District in the Central Region have vowed to throw their weights behind the District Chief Executive for the area, Honourable Derrick Owusu Ambrose to fight the menace of poor sanitation in the constituency.

This, they said, would ensure that the new DCE's vision to bring all forms of insanitary environmental issues in the constituency to an end was realised.

Nana Fotwe, the chief of Assin Abeng gave this assurance to the DCE, Hon Ambrose Owusu when he joined the Chief and his subjects in a communal labour to clean their environs recently.

The communal labour, which attracted a large crowd of people due the presence of the DCE, was also used to clear any area earmarked the construction of teachers' bungalow for the town.

The construction of the bungalow for the teachers has become very necessary in view of the fact that teachers posted to the community always face serious accommodation problems.

Due to this, members of the community have taken it upon themselves to construct one for the teachers through communal labour.

The DCE lauded the communal spirit of the Chief and the people and promised to help them to undertake the project.

Nana Fotwe appealed to his subject to see communal labour as a responsibility and honour it. He added that whosoever refused to participate in the exercise would be dealt with.

In a related development, the Chief and people of Assin Bosomadwe in the same district have expressed their joy to their DCE, Hon. Ambrose for taken it upon himself to help his constituents in clean-up exercises.

It should be mentioned that the DCE actively participated in a communal labour exercise that was organised by the people of Assin Bosomadwe.

The Nifahene of Assin Bosomadwe, Nana Kyei Baafour on behalf of the people thanked the DCE for his quest to end poor sanitation in the constituency.

'We the people of Assin Bosomadwe are ready to help the DCE to deliver. Our present here this morning is our to the course and we promise to come in our numbers to help anytime we are called'. Nana Kyei Baafour stated.
