Gomoa-Panfokrom(C/R), May 15, GNA - The Panfokrom Women's Training Institute, the first to be established in the country about 50 years ago, will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in the latter part of 2007.

The Institute offers training to young girls in dressmaking, cookery, hairdressing and needlework among other vocations to make them economically self-reliant.

Since its inception the Institute had turned out more than 2,000 highly graduates to assist in the national reconstruction effort. To ensure successful celebrations members of the Board of Governors and representatives of the Institute's Parent/Teacher Association (P.T.A.) met at Panfokrom at the weekend to appoint a special planning committee for effective preparation towards the event.

Madam Rebecca Ampah-Korsah, the Headmistress of the Institute, said the Jubilee celebration would be formally launched at Panfokrom on January 17, next year, to create the needed awareness to attract financial and logistics support from individuals and organizations. She said five sub-committees made up of publicity, grounds and transport, rehabilitation and entertainment had been put in place to draw up plans for the anniversary.

She appealed to all old students at home and abroad to contribute financially and materially towards the celebration.
