MP Commits 70% Of Common Fund To Education

Member of Parliament for the Lower West Akyem Constituency, Hon. Eyiah Kyei Bafour has stated that so long as he continues to be a member of Parliament, he shall commit 70% of his Common Fund to education development in his Constituency. According the MP, education is the backbone of the success of every nation or individual and he shall make sure that education improves drastically in his constituency.

Hon. Kyei Baffour was speaking to the media after he provided some 2000 mathematical sets to Junior High School pupils writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year.

Aside the provision of mathematical sets, the MP has promised to transport all the candidates to their various examination centers throughout the entire constituency daily for all the time that they will be writing the BECE.

According Hon. Kyei Baffour, education in his constituency is bedeviled with countless challenges leading to poor academic performance in his constituency hence the decision to commit a whooping 70% of his common fund into education in his constituency.

Receiving the mathematical sets, Mad. Rebecca Ayisah, Municipal Director of Education in the lower West Akyem Municipality thanked the MP for his gesture and said the gesture will go a long way to help the pupils. Mad. Ayisah added that BECE results in the municipality over the years has not been encouraging and thanked the MP for coming to their aid.

On his Part, Hon. Seth Oduro Boadu, Municipal Chief Executive for the Municipality assured the pupils of the government's preparedness to ensure education is given a boost in the country. He admonished the pupils to study hard and pass their exams in order for them to benefit from the government's free SHS Policy.

In all 1574 pupils from 72 schools are sitting to write this year's Examination at 7 different centers in the municipality.
