In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Michael Edward Chambers, the Managing Director, Shop N Save, stated that this was the first in Ghana, where a retail supermarket had given away a motor vehicle to its customer.

He said the promotion, which was designed to reward Shop N Save customers for their loyalty and support, brought in new customers and as well got the customers to increase their purchases at their branches.

Mr Chambers noted that the suppliers supported the Company in that regard, whereas, its staff created the enthusiasm and a conducive environment for customers.

The Managing Director said for the draw, they accumulated all the names and the NLA supervised the process to ensure that the draw was clean and transparent.

For his part, Mr Ohene Gyan Appiah said the Authority was the only government institution mandated to regulate and supervise such draws.

He explained that to ensure that the right procedures in selecting winners were used; anybody who wanted to do promotions should subject their processes for verifications and fairness under the Authority of the National Lotteries.

He said the NLA's role was to protect the interest of these customers.

He said with the verifications, what they intended to check was that the prizes were not given to staff members of the company, family members or cronies, but the customers who qualified to be part of the promotion.
