Ghana and Gulf countries to strengthen business ties

Accra, May 25, GNA - The Ghana Gulf Co-operation Chamber of Commerce (GGCCC) has been launched in Accra to strengthen the business ties between Ghana and the Gulf Countries.

The launch attracted businessmen and women, industry players, government officials and interested persons

The GGCCC will also be an all-source information body for business and investment needs in Ghana and the countries of the Gulf.

Countries of interest to GGCCC are United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, the Kingdom Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.

Its mission is to be the pivot around which Ghana will attract strategic local and foreign investments by focusing on the country's cardinal interest areas, through partnerships, leadership, excellence, global outlook and securing investments.

Its vision is to be the most productive and influential Chamber of commerce in Ghana, providing strong leadership in attracting valuable investments to its members and advocating an enabling environment working with industry champions, government and other stakeholders.

The GGCCC will put local businesses in contact with each other and with businesses in the Gulf countries, thus allowing both sides to benefit from its specialised knowledge.

The main objective of GGCCC is to facilitate business relations between Ghana and the Gulf Countries.

The successes in this endeavour will be assured both by the co-operation stellar record of events and services and by its membership, which includes some of the most competitive businesses operating in Ghana.

Services of the GGCCC will include company verification, market research, trade mission organisation and facilitation and general networking.

Other services will include; Business support/development services, Trade fairs and exhibitions, Trade mission facilitation, Strategic/special events, B2B Match-making, Consultancy and Advocacy.

Mr Yofi Grant, Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre said at the launch that local businesses did not need protectionist regime to shield them from foreign competition.

He said there were a number of opportunities that local business could take advantage of if they were given the right incentives.

Mr Grant argued that the country possessed some of the fundamental requirements needed to move the economy from its present status to a more prosperous and industrious.

Mr Joseph Siaw Agyapong, President of the GGCCC said the Co-operation sought to put local business in the in contact with the Gulf countries.

The Co-operation events will be diverse from business cocktail to meeting the Ministers of Trade, Missions to Gulf countries and cultural and historical themes ranging from national celebrations to cultural festivals, while leveraging the vehicles of people, strategic networks and national and international opportunities.
