It appears there are some faceless individuals who are instigating unemployed bonded allied health professionals against the Ministry of Health, Robert Cudjoe, Public Relations Officer of the ministry, has said.

According to him, the Allied Health Professionals are unwilling to accept assurances given by the ministry that by Friday May 26, their issues would be resolved for them to be posted to their stations.

Members of the Coalition of Bonded Unposted Allied Health Professionals are picketing the Ministry of Health in Accra to protest against the government’s failure to post them to their stations after completing their studies and national service.

Solomon Yeboah, President of the group, on Monday said: “This has become necessary following the 'neglect' of the promise made by the Hon. Deputy Minister (Mrs Tina Mensah) to provide us with evidence of our financial clearance with date of immediate postings on Monday, 15th May, 2017.

“We state without any equivocation that we are not leaving the MoH and shall continue to the Flagstaff House premises when necessary until we see an evidence-based satisfactory of our financial clearance.

“We plead the support of all stakeholders, security agencies, and the general public to support us in our 'fight' for justice.”

But speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on this development on Tuesday May 23, Mr Cudjoe said: “It appears there are some unseen hands fuelling this agenda against the ministry because the nurses are unmoved with the explanations and assurances that have been given that by Friday their issues would be addressed.

“These unseen hands could be anybody, not necessarily politicians, and that is worrying.”

The nurses, however, have debunked the allegation.
Solomon Yeboah, also speaking on Ghana Yensom on Tuesday, said: “Nobody is fuelling our actions against the ministry. We are only interested in ensuring that our needs are met.

“We are hungry and we cannot continue to rely on our parents for food after they have invested so much into our education and so we want the government to do the right thing.”

He added: “We are fed up with assurances and so we will continue picketing up to the Friday deadline that has been given until the issues are actually addressed.”
