Bawku (UE) May 21, GNA - All is set to celebrate the Buudi Yelle festival of unity, celebrated by the Chiefs and people of the Moshie people in Bawku to project peace in the area and the country.
The festival would bring together sons and daughters of the Moshie tribe across the African continent to form a formidable platform that would foster unity among the people to bring about development to their areas of settlement.
The occasion, which would be crowned with the theme, 'Promoting peace and development: The role of the Moshie community in Ghana', would also create grounds to portray the cultural heritage of the Moshie people to prepare the upcoming generation for the future task ahead of them.
Alhaji Imoro Kundiima, Chairman of the Moshie Development Association disclosed this in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Bawku to highlight the purpose of the festival and its significance in the development of the people.
Alhaji Kundiima said the festival was focused on bringing the Moshie people all over the world under one umbrella to unite them for the continuous promotion of peace and development.
He said only peace and unity could bring about uniform development to the area and what the 'Buudi Yelle' stood for.
Alhaji Kundiima described the people as hard working, respectful and humble who were prepared to collaborate with anyone working hard to propel the Country's development.
The festival which is slated for next Saturday, May 27, would be characterised by drumming and dancing, exhibition of indigenous dishes, dressing, and the ancestral family system that brings the people together for unity.
Mr Alhassan Abdul-Salaam, the Secretary of the Association lamented on how western culture had over-shadowed the Ghanaian culture, saying the festival would serve as a platform to re-instate that aspect of the Ghanaian life into the youth.
He identified the youth as the backbone of every community, saying the festival would create grounds to lobby developmental partners to institute schemes that would generate employment for them.
He urged the youth especially the young women to stay focused in life and not to engage in nefarious activities such as prostitution and armed robbery.
