IGP Effects Changes In Police Service

IGP. ACP BOAKYE MOVED TO HEADQUARTERS The inspector general of police (IGP), Mr Patrick Acheampong, has made new appointments in the Ghana Police Service.

The Brong Ahafo regional commander, deputy commissioner of police (DCOP), Mr Yaw Adu Gyimah, has been posted to the headquarters in Accra as head of services, while the commissioner of police (COP) in charge of technical services, Mr Andrew Gyabaah, takes charge of technical operations following the splitting of the technical services into two.

A source close to the police headquarters said the postings, which took immediate effect, had DCOP, Mr E. B. Ansong, moving from the headquarters to become the regional commander for the Volta Region, while DCOP, Mrs Diana Osei Poku, who was at the CID headquarters, had been appointed commandant of the police college.

It said ACP, Mr D. A. Asiedu, the commandant of the police college, had been assigned responsibility as commander of the Greater Accra Region. ACP, Ms Rose Bio Atinga, formerly of headquarters services, had been moved to the Central Region as the regional commander.

According to the source, ACP, Mr Kofi Boakye, who used to be the Greater Accra regional commander, had been assigned responsibility at operations at the police headquarters.

It said ACP, Alhaji Saakah, the second in command of the Greater Accra Region, takes over from ACP Yaale as Upper East regional commander. ACP Yaale is on retirement.

The source said ACP, Opare Addo, who was the second in command in the Ashanti Region, had taken over the Brong Ahafo regional command, while ACP, Mr Seth Oteng, divisional commander for Oda, now becomes second in command in the Ashanti Region.

It said ACP, Mr Patrick E. Timbilla of the CID headquarters operations, becomes chief of staff at the police headquarters.
