I Won't Entertain Shoddy Work In My District—Gomoa East DCE Cautions Contractors
The Gomoa East District Chief Executive (DCE), in the Central Region, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo says he wont entertain shoddy work from any contractor who would be executing developmental projects in his district.
He has therefore cautioned contractors at site and potential contractors to execute perfect job to benefit the people.
" I won't tolerate shoddy work in my tenure of office as DCE. Any contractor who fails to perform to the satisfaction of the Assembly would have his contract terminated and given to a more qualify person to takeover the job.
We need value for money, the Assembly cannot just throw monies into the drain just because we need infrastructure development. I personally would not approve any shoddy work done for payment.
I want to tell any contractor working in the Gomoa East District to work according to the standard required by the Assembly."
The Gomoa East District Chief Executive stated these when he visited ongoing projects which were awarded by the pevious NDC government in the district on Tuesday.
He visited Gomoa Obuasi Presbyterian Basic school where a 3-unit classroom block with office and store was being built for effective teaching and learning.
At Gomoa Dabanyin, the DCE and his entourage inspected a Community Health Improvement Post (CHIP) compound being constructed to offer health care delivery for the people in the vicinity.
He also visited a 50-acre land acquired by the Assembly for a proposed Industrial Village to create avenue for artisans and to create jobs for the youth. The DCE was impressed saying the land could accommodate the One District One Factory policy for job creation.
The entourage inspected the ongoing new market at Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba to boost economic activities and also generate income for the Assembly.
At Gomoa Kweikrom,Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo noted that he was not happy about the work done on CHIP Compound and nurse's quarters lamenting over its execution.
" Am going to study the documents and drawings on the Gomoa Kweikrom CHIP compound and nurse's quarters. Am not sure what the contractor has done is what is in the drawings.
If we found that the work was not done as in the documents and drawings, we have to let the contractor change it and do it better because we expect nothing but value for money. The floor work was not done to my satisfaction " he noted.
The last project the DCE and his entourage inspected was another CHP compound under construction for the people of Gomoa Dampase where the project was sited away from the community.
It would be difficult for the people to use the facility due to it inaccessibility. It will take a better road network for vehicles to carry patients to the center if completed. Anything less would let the project be a 'white elephant'.
The DCE hinted that a more accessible location would be sought to enable the people use the facility give them to access quick healthcare delivery.
Mr. Emmanuel Baise, Gomoa East District Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Adjetey, the District Director of were among those who accompanied the DCE.
