Plans are far advanced to set up a new office for the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in the Upper West Region. This was announced by the Deputy Executive Director of the Authority Mr Akilu Sayibu

The setting of an office in the region by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority is an attempt to expose exportable products within the region and beyond. The Export Promotion Authority expressed government’s commitment to assist the business community in the Upper West Region especially the regional capital Wa to provide traders with products that are in high demand at the international market.

Mr Akilu Sayibu paid a working visit to the Upper West Region to familiarize with some local businesses. The visit forms part of the quest of the authority to market products in the region with the potential of international demand.

The deputy Chief Executive said the Upper West Region has products that can be exported which also meet international demands and mentioned products such as soya bean, groundnuts, sheabutter and smock among others. This he said the government is encouraging local businesses to register their business which will go a long way to open up more opportunities for them at the world market.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Wa Issahaku Tahiru expressed the hope that the government will create opportunities that will enable business men and women to be in businesses that will lead to the creation jobs for the teeming youth in the Upper West Region.
