MAY 12, 2017 LISTEN

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central has described as palpably false, claims that he is the male character in a sex video being circulated on social media.

Mr. Mahama Ayariga in a post on Facebook Friday, said the scandalous claims are orchestrated by devious persons to tarnish his image.

Some faceless persons on Facebook and other social media platforms have circulated a video they claim shows Mr. Ayariga and a Chinese galamsey kingpin, Asia Huang, engaged in a sexual act.

The video bears the hallmarks of a professional pornographic scene and surfaced only after journalist Kweku Baako revealed on Joy FM/MultiTV's news analysis show Newsfile, that the Chinese lady was engaged in blackmailing Ghanaian politicians and security officials with sex videos.

His comments followed a report by Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor that in spite a ban on illegal mining by Land Minister, John Peter Amewu, Asia Huang, famous for her nickname Aisha, was still mining. Four of her workers were arrested for mining in spite of the ban.

Kweku Baako said the lady had become so powerful that she consistently flouted the law but went unscathed because of her connections with highly placed people in politics and the security forces.

Since his comments, sex videos have emerged allegedly showing some politicians having sex with the lady even though the identities of the persons in the sex videos cannot be ascertained.

In spite of this, some have claimed a man whose face cannot be seen in the video is the Bawku Central MP.

In response to the claims, he said, "I have become aware of the circulation of a video on social media purportedly showing me engaged in a sexual intercourse with a lady of Asian origin.

"Those involved in this dastardly and barbaric act seem to suggest that I provided the lady and her company with a licence to engage in "galamsay" mining during my tenure as the Minister of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation in exchange for sexual favours.

"I categorically deny the mindless suggestion that I am the male actor in the video and all the inferences it draws. Those who orchestrated this agenda and promoted it have only succeeded in giving us a glimpse of the crude and the unfulfilled lives they live.

"I want to assure the people Bawku and Ghanaians that I am grateful and respect the opportunity they have given me to serve as their Member of Parliament and the different portfolios I was privileged to work.

"The thought that I serve at the behest of the people never departs me, it is what informs and drives every decision I make; this will not change.

"In accordance with my Islamic faith, I forgive the architects of this video and agenda, I see these orchestrations as negative campaigning against targeted opponents and an evidence of our debased politics.

"Thank you," he concluded.
