Dormaa EP Church Holds Harvest

09.05.2005 LISTEN
By GNA

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), May 9, GNA - The Sunyani District Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Reverend S.E. Baribensu, said loyalty to the state and honesty among Ghanaians are important for the nation's accelerated development. Rev. Banibensu bemoaned the current turn of events in Ghana where political parties, tribes, institutions and individuals have engaged in persistent accusation of one another of dishonesty and treachery. He was delivering a sermon at an annual harvest, organised by the Dormaa-Ahenkro branch of the EP Church to raise funds in aid of a new chapel.

The theme for the harvest was: "Union with Christ in prayer and suffering" and attended by Congregations from Sunyani, Berekum and Goaso.

Rev Banibensu noted that attempts at securing peace for rapid national development would remain an illusion if Ghanaians do not demonstrate real loyalty and commitment to facing real situations, "and avoid introducing hypocrisy into our political culture." He explained that though various political parties and institutions may have different objectives and varied modus operandi, "the fact remains that they are all gearing at the good of Ghana and should therefore be prepared to cross-fertilize ideas and build consensus worthy of pushing the nation forward in the near future."
