Workshop on Good Food preparation ends at Apam

Apam (C/R), May 9, GNA - Members of the Ghana Traditional Caterers Association, made up of the food sellers, chop bar keepers, drinking bar operators and other food vendors drawn from the Apam area on Friday attended a two-day workshop on capacity building at Apam. The 150 participants were taken through environmental sanitation, food and nutrition, personal hygiene, and business management. The Ghana Traditional Caterers Association (GTCA) and the Ghana Tourist Boards jointly organized the workshop with the theme: "Good Food for Health Progress".

The National Organizer of GTCA, Madam Hajia Sahuratu, advised participants to be more conscious about the health and welfare of the customers and prepare good food to ensure their good health.

She told them that, if they prepare food under unhygienic conditions, they would be causing harm to the health of their customers. Nana Apraku Tuffuor I, Programme Organiser of the Association told them not to see visiting Health Officers as enemies but as partners to help prevent food related diseases such as Cholera, typhoid and others. Mr Oppong Bediako, Gomoa District Co-coordinating Director told participants to take the workshop seriously to enable them and their customers benefit from it.

He charged them to ensure promptly payment of their taxes to enable the assembly generate enough revenue to undertake more developmental projects.

A branch of the Association was later inaugurated at Apam with Madam Elizabeth Arthur Hughes as President and Nana Essaba and Madam Paulina Dadzie as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Certificates were presented to the participants.
