Tema, May 1, GNA - Madam Elizabeth Tehoda, a Social Welfare Counsellor of the Ningo/Prampram District, has urged parents to bring forth the number of children they could conveniently cater for so that they do not become wayward.
Madam Tehoda gave the advice when the SOS Children's Villages- Ghana organised a forum for caregivers and women at Mataheko in the Ningo/Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region.
The forum was to educate the caregivers on children's rights and the need to educate them to become assets to the society.
Madam Tehoda said the responsibility of Social Welfare was to help parents to handle domestic issues, especially those that concerned the upbringing of children from day one to 18 years.
She said most of the reported cases received in their offices were neglect of children by their fathers and asked the men to be committed to their marital obligations while urging the women to show respect to their husbands and support the running of the home.
Madam Rejoice Asare, a Caregiver, called on women to stick to the number of children they could cater for so that their children would have a brighter future.
Mr Dziedzom Owusu-Agbe, the Project Officer of the 'Family Strengthening Programme' of the SOS Children's Villages-Ghana, advised women to venture into small businesses to support the home.
